This Branch has members throughout Greater Manchester and in the surrounding
counties. Membership costs £2.00 annually.
Volunteers invited
There are no social activities, owing to the size of the area covered.
However there is potential for this, given appropriate local help at Bolton and
Stockport - membership in these areas stands at 50 and 70 respectively.
The Secretary will be pleased to hear from anyone in these locations, or
elsewhere in the Branch catchment area, looking for a more active role.
Railway Benefit Fund
The Branch holds membership of RBF (formerly the Railway
Benevolent Institution) for its members, who, through
unfortunate circumstances might need financial assistance. Matters are
dealt with in strictest confidence - tel. 01270 251316 if you need help or click
here

Our Branch has well over 400 members from all grades of retired
staff. Situated where we are, many of our members worked in the shipping
grades before retirement.
We hold meetings at both Llandudno and Holyhead.
These are always well attended, and provide a good opportunity to recall past
years with friends and former colleagues.
The North Wales Branch sends representatives to meetings of the North West
Council and the Federation, which are held six times each year in Manchester and
London. At our local meetings we give an update on any information received and
a report of North West Council and Federation Meetings attended by your branch
officers.

The Branch was formed in September 1998, meeting the needs of retired people
in the Preston (PR) post code area and avoiding them having to travel to
Carnforth (Morecambe Bay), Manchester, Warrington or Wigan. In June 2002
the Blackpool Branch found it necessary to close because of lack of Officers,
and they resolved to transfer en bloc, thereby taking in the FY post code
area.
At the end of August 2002, there were 89 members, including wives and
partners, but more are always welcome, as are guests and visiting members from
other Branches - further details can be obtained from Membership
Enquiries.
The annual membership fee is currently £1.50, which has been held since the
Branch was formed.

Our aim is to supply Railway Pensioners with an informative, but informal
afternoon meeting chatting with friends and colleagues while enjoying a choice
of liquid refreshments (tea and coffee included). Our links with the Local
Agenda 21 Older Peoples Forum and North West Warrington Pensioners has created
the means to campaign and lobby for pensioners' rights both locally and
nationally with the BTPF taking a leading role. A partnership with a local
Community Forum has been formed giving the branch access to a mini-bus used to
assist members to attend meetings and for social events.
See below for further details:
 | Regular Meetings - are held on the
third Tuesday of every month, starting at 13:30 hours. |
 | Venue - is the Rail Club, Winwick
Road, Warrington (adjacent to Warrington Central Station - pay & display
car park opposite). |
 | Newsletters - these are sent bi-monthly

refreshments, entertainment, bingo and raffles. Hot Pot Supper
entertainment nights out are arranged during the winter period. |

 | Speakers - a wide variety of speakers
have been welcomed to the branch. Members are requested to nominate
