Western Association

The Western Association was founded in 1948 by retired railway staff living within the territory of the former Great Western Railway to look after the interests of their colleagues.  Membership is open to all, irrespective of grade, who retire from any part of the rail industry, whether pre- or post-privatisation.

Membership of the Western Association is at present approximately 2,500.  By joining this Association, you become a member of the British Transport Pensioners' Federation, which, with this Association's support, continues to achieve many improvements to Travel Facilities and pensions.

Welfare Work in the Western Association

In addition to supporting the general aims of the Federation, the Western Association also has a region-wide network of volunteers, who provide advice and assistance on welfare matters (previously provided by the British Railways Board) - through these volunteers, the attention of those who control welfare resources can be drawn to cases of need.

Joining the Western Association

By becoming a member of the Western Association you will be able to continue links with former colleagues.
