Membership of the Western Association Birmingham Group is drawn from the West Midlands, Worcester, Leamington Spa and Banbury.  

The Annual Subscription to cover administration costs for the Birmingham Group is £1.00.

Bristol

Social activities are provided for former railway staff in the Bristol, Bath, Westbury and Taunton areas, including:

Day trips at various times of year and a short break holiday in the autumn at a seaside resort or in the countryside
Christmas lunch, where everyone has the chance to meet up with former colleagues and old friends
Visit to pantomime or show in the New Year
Newsletter produced twice a year to keep members in touch with social events
Annual General Meeting where members can have their say on what should and should not be included in the group's programme.

Booking arrangements for all our trips and events will be provided in the Newsletters, together with contact details for all Branch Officers.

Coach Outing - Kington, Herefordshire

Explore the fascinating town of Kington, Herefordshire, an area we have not visited for some time

Options to visit either the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre or the magnificent Hergest Croft Gardens (click on the links to view details).  Both sites have tea room facilities. 

Coach departs as follows:

09.00 hours - Backwell

09.20 hours - Bristol Temple Meads

09.40 hours - Bristol Parkway
We hope to arrive back at Temple Meads by 19.30 hours.

Cost (including coach travel and driver's gratuity) £14.00 per person.  (At present we are not sure of group rates for the two visitor attractions, so entry fees will be collected on the day.)

Holiday to Eastbourne

We have provisionally reserved a number of seats on the coach leaving on 4th October

For our party the reduced price will be £244 per person. There is no single room supplement but the number of single rooms will be strictly limited, so please book early if you require one. (We understand that some of these do carry a “sea-view” supplement of £33.00.)

A subscription of £1 a year is charged to cover administration costs of the Bristol Group.  Life membership is also available at £15 (under 60) or £10 (over 60).

Branch Outing 

Informal outing to the S.S. Great Britain at Bristol. Click here for details of the venue.

Depart Cardiff at 10 a.m., (Newport at 10:15) to join the 11:10 boat; 5 minutes walk from Bristol Temple Meads station. 

The boat journey takes half an hour and costs £2.10 return. 

Entry to the S.S. Great Britain is £9.95 (prices quoted for boat trip and entry are both at concessionary rate). 

Other places of interest include the smaller vessel 'Matthew', a shop and café and a nearby Maritime Museum.

Gloucester

Activities 2011 - awaiting details

The Gloucester group holds regular bi-monthly meetings on alternate first Wednesdays of each month at the Gloucester City Football Club, Sudmeadow Road, Hempsted.

Plymouth & Cornwall

Monthly meetings are held at various GWRSA Clubs, with members starting to gather at around 11:30 hours.  Pasties are always available.  Free transport is available from Par to St. Blazey and return for those that need it - especially for the return bit!

The Annual General Meeting takes place in January on the second Friday of the month.

Holiday in Eastbourne

Provided we can get a minimum of 38 people, we have made a provisional booking for a four night holiday in Eastbourne.

Note: the hotel has wheelchair-accessible lifts but there are eight steps from the pavement to the front door

Cost of holiday - £255 per person for dinner, bed & breakfast and an excursion each day. (There will no supplement for the first six Single Rooms to be booked.)

Insurance is available at £17.50 per person - this is strongly recommended.

Members' family and friends are welcome to join us for this holiday, subject to availability of accommodation

Reading

Dates for your diary - 2011

The Reading Group meets informally at lunchtime throughout the year on the third Monday of each month, except December when we meet on the second Monday
Now in its twelfth year, our Walking Group arranges country walks of 2 - 4 miles on the first Wednesday of each month from March to October

We have formed a Theatre Group, and will be arranging group outings to shows. Please contact the Secretary if you wish to participate - address in Newsletter.
