Social activities are provided for former railway staff in the Bristol, Bath,
Westbury and Taunton areas, including:
 | Day trips at various times of year and a short break holiday in the autumn
at a seaside resort or in the countryside |
 | Christmas lunch, where everyone has the chance to meet up with former
colleagues and old friends |
 | Visit to pantomime or show in the New Year |
 | Newsletter produced twice a year to keep members in touch with social
events |
 | Annual General Meeting where members can have their say on what should and
should not be included in the group's programme. |
Booking arrangements for all our trips and events will be provided in the
Newsletters, together with contact details for all Branch Officers.

Autumn
Holiday to Llandridnod Wells
 |
By way of a
change this year we have booked our Autumn holiday in Central Wales,
at the Metropole Hotel, Llandridnod Wells - strongly recommended by
one of our members who stayed there recently. |

All rooms
are en suite with colour TV and tea/coffee-making facilities.
There is a lift to all floors and a heated swimming pool. Highly
recommended restaurant, serving mostly local produce. |
 |
Departure
times on 27 September: Weston-super-Mare Rail Station 09:00; Bristol
Temple Meads 09:45; Bristol Parkway 10:15. Additional pick-ups
by arrangement at Backwell and Congresbury. We hope to arrive
back at Temple Meads by approximately 6:00 p.m. and Weston by 6:45
p.m., depending on traffic conditions. |

Price,
including four nights Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal, all coach
travel and driver's gratuity - £295.00 per person (sharing a double
room). Single room supplement £25.00. |

Deposit of
£30.00 per person payable at the time of booking; balance to be paid
by 15 August. Please book as early as possible, especially
if you require a single room. |

As usual, we
strongly advise you take out your own holiday insurance (possibly
through Age Concern) as refunds for late cancellation are not usually
available |

The Gloucester group holds regular bi-monthly meetings on alternate first
Wednesdays of each month at the
Gloucester City Football Club, Sudmeadow Road, Hempsted.
Trips in recent years have included:

Your ideas for other destinations will be welcome.

Monthly meetings are held at various GWRSA Clubs, with members starting to
gather at around 11:30 hours. Pasties are always available. A minibus will be
available from Par to St. Blazey and return for those that need it - especially
for the return bit!
The Annual General Meeting takes place in January.
Two day trips took place in 2008 - one to Truro for lunch, then on
to Helston and the Lizard and another by train to Calstock with a boat trip down
the Tamar to the Barbican.
