Rambles - Croydon & East Surrey Branch Ramblers meet on the
second Tuesday of each month from March to November (dates and details given
in our Diary below). Details
of rambles arranged by the London West Branch are also listed here and on
their Branch Diary (click here
to view) - these take
place on the first Tuesday of each month. The rambles are taken at a steady
pace. Good walking shoes are recommended. Take a packed lunch
with you, as it is not always possible to arrive at a suitable place to
purchase food and/or drink at lunchtime.

Coffee mornings - Last Wednesday of each
month (except December) at the Clock Tower
Café, Katherine Street, Croydon (adjacent to
Croydon Library) - no need to book, just turn up! You are also cordially
invited to attend the Coffee Mornings organised by the London West Branch. |
 | Lunch Group - our Lunch Group
was launched in 2008 and we have decided to continue into 2010, starting in February.
We will
meet on the second Thursday of every alternate month (i.e. February, April,
June, August, October and December), for a meal at a pub or inn
within easy walking distance of a railway station. If you have a
favourite lunchtime venue that is easily accessible by rail and can
accommodate a party of 15 plus, please advise Peter Blanthorn or Graham
Harris (contact details available to members). |

BTPF Branches are welcome at all Croydon & East Surrey social events, but numbers may be
restricted where coach hire or other bookings have to be made.

to Guide Dog Training Centre

The Guide
Dog Training Centre is at Findlay House, Manor Road, Woodford, London |
 | Our visit
begins at 14:00 hours and lasts for about two hours - please assemble
at the Centre at 13:50 hours |
 |
Admission is
free, but a donation of £3 or more is appreciated |
 |
There are no
refreshment facilities at the Training Centre, but you are invited to
join us for an early lunch near Liverpool Street station - meet at
11:30 in front of the Underground entrance hall |
 | Following
lunch we shall depart at 12:30, and travel by Central Line to South
Woodford station, then continue our journey by bus (route W14) to
Cross Road, Woodford. (Please note earlier departure from
Liverpool Street, to ensure that all who have booked this visit will
be able to get on the bus.) |

Globe Theatre Exhibition, Bankside, London SE1

Meet at the
Globe at 11:00 for entry to the Exhibition at 11:15 hours |

The guided
tour of the theatre takes about 40 minutes, after which you are free
to peruse the rest of the exhibition, which closes at 17:00 |
 |
Cost: £8.25
per person |
 |
Eating out:
"The Swan" at the Globe has a Chef's Menu at lunchtime -
£12.50 for two courses or £15.50 for three courses (2009 prices for
guidance only). There is also a Bar Menu in the range of £5.50
to £7.50 (2009 prices). There is also a coffee shop.
There are also plenty of pubs and cafés in the area and our tickets
allow us to leave the Globe and re-enter up to 16:30 on the day |

to SS Great Britain, Bristol
 | Travel by 10:00 train from London Paddington to Bristol
Temple Meads (Paignton train), dep. Reading 10:27, arrive Bristol
Temple Meads at 11:40. Then travel to SS Great Britain by Bus
number 500 - don't forget to bring your Bus Passes! Meet in the
Reception Hall of the SS Great Britain for entry at 12:00 hours. |
 | Visit
SS Great Britain - cost per person £8.50. |
 |
There
is a café / restaurant on site where teas, coffee, sandwiches and
light lunches are served, or visitors can take their own food. |
 |
After
the visit some members might like to take a Bus Sightseeing Tour of
Bristol starting at the SS Great Britain and finishing at Temple Meads
Station, (Cost £10.00), or return to Temple Meads by Ferry via the
City Centre. Otherwise return by Number 500 Bus (or walk). |

by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with soloists Natasha Marsh

Cavalleria Rusticana, Madam Butterfly, The Marriage of Figaro, Gianni

City Road or along the Canal towpath to Chester Cathedral - entrance
to the Cathedral is £4.00 per person (Senior Citizens). Each
paying visitor receives a complimentary audio tour of the Cathedral,
lasting approx. 45 minutes. Audio tours for groups of 10 or
more must be booked in advance. |
