Social and Outdoor Activities 2008-2009

Tuesday 28th October 2008

Aviation Heritage Museum, Maritime Museum and English Heritage Museum, Southampton

A few additional places are still available for this visit - if interested, please contact the organiser as soon as possible. 

For those who have already booked, please remember to bring your Bus Pass for the journey onwards from the City Link Shuttle to the Aviation Museum. It is also planned to visit the Maritime Museum but the inclusion of the English Heritage Museum does not fit in with the itinerary. 

Travel arrangements are to catch the 10:05 hours from Waterloo (10:12 hours at Clapham Junction) or alternatively meet at Southampton Central Station at 11:22 hours. 

The cost (exclusive of the £1 admission to the Maritime Museum) is £4.50 per person.

Weds 03rd December 2008

Bank of England, London

An additional outing has been arranged to the Bank of England.  Meet at Bank Underground station at 10:00 hours.  In the morning we shall see a film on the history of the Bank and then enjoy a choral concert.  Light refreshments will be provided after the concert. 

It is regretted that this visit is now fully subscribed.

Annual Holiday to Shropshire and the Severn Valley

Next year's holiday will be a six day visit to Shropshire and the Severn Valley, departing on Wednesday 23rd September by train to Wolverhampton and staying (half board) at the four star Menzies Hotel in Stourport on Severn. Click here for details of the hotel.

Excursions will include Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, the Severn Valley Railway to Bridgnorth and two National Trust houses and gardens. 

The price, excluding entry charges for visits, is £345 per person plus £75 for a single room.

Music Group

Concerts are being given at the refurbished Royal Festival Hall by the London Philharmonic Orchestra - details of the programme are available from Gill Hosack.

Dates of concerts for the 2008 / 2009 Season are as follows:

2008:    Friday - 10th October, 7th November, 5th December

2009:    Friday - 16th January, 20th February, 6th March, 1st May, 22nd May, 5th June.

All concerts commence at 19:30 hours.

There are also a number of 'bonus' concerts available to Friday Series bookers on the following dates (all Wednesdays), also commencing at 19:30 hours:

2008:    Weds - 24th September, 29th October, 26th November

2009:    Weds - 21st January, 4th February, 1st April.
